Louis Brown Ogbeifun is an activist, a team player/builder and had served at various times as Pioneer President, Student Nurses’ Association, State School of Nursing, Warri; State President, Student Nurses and Midwives Association, Bendel State; Chapter Chairman, Branch Industrial Relations Officer and Branch Chairman of the Corporate Headquarters’ Branch of Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) in the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) between 1992 and 2002; capped his union activities with his election as 10th President of PENGASSAN (White Collar employees of the oil and gas industry) in 2003 and the 1st Deputy President General of the Trade Union congress (TUC) of Nigeria in 2004. In recognition of his leadership qualities he received several awards, which include the Honorary Doctor of Philosophy in Leadership, Social and Community Development HONORIS CAUSA by Evangel Christian University, 2003 (Lagos Nigeria), Patriotic Achiever’s Award (2003) Diamond Award of professional Excellence (2003) Outstanding Union Leader Award (2003), Role Model Gold Award (2003), Award of Meritorious Service (2003), Achievers’ Platinum Award (2003), Merit Award of Excellence (2003), Virtuous leadership Gold Award (2004), Role Model Award (2004), Most Humane Labour leader Award (2004), Voyage Man Of the year 2004, People’s Advocate of the year (2004), Eagle Award for achievements and contributions to local content development in Nigeria (2005), Award Of Excellence,2004/2005; etc,. He has served the nation in several Committees among which are: Committee on Socio-Economic Impact of Downstream Deregulation in Nigeria, 2003; Committee on the Privatization of NNPC Downstream Sector, 2003/2004; Nigeria Stakeholders Work Group of the Nigerian Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative (NEITI) 2004/2005; Independent Consolidated and Cushioning Measures Committee, 2004/2005 and currently a member of the Sub-committee of Civil Society Organization of NEITI He is a Certified Professional and Trainer in Managing Workplace Conflicts, (MTI) U.S.A; Accredited Mediator, Centre for Effective Disputes’ Resolution (CEDR); UK. Associate Member, Nigeria Institute of Management (Chartered). Member, Institute of Mediation and Conciliation, In recognition of his mediation skills, the Board of Governors of the Abuja Multi-Door Courthouse (AMDC), High Court of the Federal Territory, Abuja, Nigeria enlisted him on the Panel of Neutrals in March 2007, Member, Governing Council of the Institute of Chattered Mediators and Conciliators of Nigeria.
