This week saw Nigeria’s airline operators led by its President, Sir Allen Ifechukwu Onyema issued a 3-day ultimatum to the Federal Government over the escalating costs of aviation fuel.
Without any waste of time, the NASS, the NNPC and representatives of the Federal Republic engaged the airline operators. This is laudable and good for Social Dialogue.
I do hope airline operators will not have issues with their industrial unions giving them less than 7-14 days ultimatum in the future. They should always remember the ‘do to others what you wish them do to you’ mantra.
Secondly, I hope they will also remember how the system treated them with respect and promptness when they gave their own ultimatum.
They should also come to table to engage their industrial unions in the aviation industry with open minds when situations get rocky.
Just wondering aloud.
Grace and peace!!!
