“I’m a great believer in luck. I’ve found that the harder I work, the more I have of it.” -Thomas Jefferson.

Each time most people aspire to get what lucky people  like Thomas have, the bar to that same milestone gets raised. They become frustrated and in the end, give up.

Some people do not get past their beginnings because they tend to misapply Jefferson’s lucky phrase. They point fingers at those who are successful without taking time to study what went into the process of having a lucky outcome. For instance, they see only the  “I’m a great believer in luck.”  They do not bother to read what follows, “I’ve found that the harder I work, the more I have of it.” Hidden underneath the pouch of luck is ‘hard-work’

They also forget that we all have different endowments in creation and at birth. What Jefferson  called luck, I tag extreme optimism, courage and risk-taking and a never giving up spirit, which helps us to surmount challenges that seemed mpossible.

That you have failed in an enterprise does not make you a failure. It only shows you how not to embark on that same pathway in the future. That thing you called failure is the garnering of invaluable experience, which cannot be purchased by any currency.

There is a saying, “Show me a man who has never failed, and I’ll see a man who has never attempted anything.”. I also say, show me a man that has never failed, and I will show you a man who has never been successful. Failures are part of the building blocks of success.

The luck I am talking about has nothing to do with sport-betting, lottery or lotto, which is destroying a lot of our youths. I am talking about the luck that comes out of hard-work. I tell people, if you believed in luck without work, get into a football tournament and when your opponent passes the ball, do not contest it. Just watch them play. See if you would net a goal in your opponent’s goal without your kicking the ball. Luck helps turnaround a process of an active steer.

Dear friends, as this 2020 is gradually bidding us a final goodbye, don’t let the failed areas of your endeavour deter you from stepping up to try again in 2021. Life is not a hundred meter’s dash. Life is a convoluted journey. As you plan for your 2021, you shall by His grace testify to His goodness in Jesus name.

Grace and peace!!!
