No one talks about it again

There is something worrisome about my beloved country. Once government bandies and throws figures at us, we hardly subject it to serious interrogations.

On government’s side, they know that no matter how serious any fraudulent activity looks, after two weeks, the citizens would have forgotten and moved on. No one talks about it again. Until another frightening figure is thrown at us, it remains business as usual.

Sometimes in April 2022, the Federal Government through the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disasters Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq, announced the training of 177 youths in smart phones. This is a laudable project worth commending and replicating.

However, spending a whopping N5.9 billion on the training of the Batch C, beneficiaries of the N-Power Programme in Kano State amounted to over thirty million Naira (N30,000,000) per youth.

Has any youth organization, NGO or indeed the media interrogated, and continue to interrogate this claim, or it is done with and buried? Just wondering aloud.

Grace and peace!!!
