Pa Awolowo of blessed memory came to life with all human frailties, and therefore not God. But one thing nobody can take from him is the bringing of so many firsts in developmental strides to the Western Region. He also brought a competitive edge to governance.
For people to watch portable strip holding the symbol of the APC, ‘Broom’ and someone holding its flag right on top of the burst of Awolowo while the stripping went on is bemusing. I had expected the APC to come our very strong against the act. Yes, he was paid by the APC to support Tinubu. No problem! But I can take a bet that nobody in the APC paid him to do that unthinkable thing.
Besides, many of the top shots in the APC wear Pa Awolowo’s symbolic cap to show their connectivity to Awo’s brand of politics. Why they all keep mum over this act of portable beats me hollow. They should remember that if this act continues, the future generation could even defecate on top of their graves and people will clap for them. Think about it.
He also confessed that he was paid to support the #EndSARS. This underscores the fact that some of those who took part in the #EndSARS protest didn’t do it as a patriotic duty to protect Nigerians against the high handedness of uniformed officials but indeed paid.
That confession particularly saddens me. Anyway, I thought the Government now has a lead to the underbelly of the ugly side of the protest. Unfortunately, the likes of portable are the role models for our innocent and teeming youths. Sad! If I may ask, don’t Celebs have a way of talking to themselves on what society expects of them?
