The moment he said he was on queue for an hour plus, that was almost flying to Benin and back to Lagos. Just imagine the time wasted for the airlines and the economic time of passengers plundered.
But as the pilot taxied, I started wondering aloud. I pray we won’t get to a situation where pilots will start using various techniques to reduce fuel consumption. Alhough Pilots have several safe techniques like tweaking their routes, leaning, riding the wind, reduced flap settings, taxiing with one engine, changing pilot behavior, etc to help with reduced fuel consumption, they also require standards, skills and perfection.
Folks, the world is almost at a standstill because of the Russo-Ukrainian War. Some refineries have powered down. There is fuel scarcity and hikes across the globe.
It is now glaring that countries that produce their energy needs locally, seem to be doing better. I am waiting for the Presidential candidate that would make energy security a priority as they go round the country.
