We can lend our voices constructively

In my opinion, politics is like any other profession. I see it as noble. However, some politicians portray politics as unclean because of the do-or-die and the win-or-scatter the process mindsets. They intimidate us with fiery looking ‘egbe wedgers’ and security agencies so we can leave the arena for them to loot the Commonwealth. Once we do, they go on celebration spree.

When we run away for fear of being brutalized, those who do not wish our collectivism well will take over the political terrain. The more we fear for and to keep our lives, the more we lose it. Take a look at the socio-political landscape. The innocent dying from the dastardly acts of bandits, insurgents, ritual killers, gun-wielding herders knew next to nothing about what led to our travails and the current bus stop.

If we cannot join politics because we think the turf is slippery, we can sponsor bills and use the lobby instrument. We can lend our voices constructively to demand for accountability and transparency in governance. It is when there is peace you can be on social media celebrating milestones. Check out what is happening in Ukraine and we would all learn to speak out against bad governance. If you are still too afraid, you can like those bold enough to speak. Not doing any of these will reduce our chances of making the world hear us.

Grace and peace!!!
