Segregations and racism have been there since the foundation of life and I doubt if they could be eliminated. In religion, we learned of the Jews and the Gentiles. Even at that, in dire situations some persons from across the divide came to each other’s rescue.
Here in Nigeria, we have seen Muslims and Muslim organizations sheltering Christians against Boko Haram slaughter. That is humanity and loving your neghbour.
We also have seen Christians and Christian organizations showing the same empathy. I know of Christians sponsoring scores of Muslims in schools and trades. That is humanity and loving your neighbour and in line with the greatest commandment, “Love God with all you have.” The next is love your neighbour as yourself.
We may not be able to change the tide of racism. But we could all play our parts anywhere we find a new neighbour. This could be an incremental turaround.
If we couldn’t do anything, don’t push your neighbor into the furnace of fire, well or cold. Let us begin to collectively take a stand against man’s inhumanity to man as it is unfolding everywhere in the world.
Grace and peace!!!
