Political Sacrilege: Condemning the Bombing of Rivers State House of Assembly – A Call for Justice and Preservation of Democratic Values

No matter the level of anger, bombing of the Rivers State House of Assembly and the subsequent demolishing of the edifice is a political sacrilege. It is an aberration of the highest order, and an act that remains condemnable before God and man.

The Federal Government should step in before someone tries it at the national level. Do not say it can not happen. The mace, which is the symbol of authority in any Legislative Chamber was once forcefully removed in broad daylight and retrieved outside the National Assembly. In ideal climes, all those involved in that ignoble role would have been prosecuted and jailed. But here, they were rewarded with political appointments.

In my opinion, destructive politics should have no place in any modern society. It will take billions of Naira of the taxpayers and Rivers’ State derivation funds, which could have gone into building of schools to rebuild the edifice. That can not be justifiable.

Therefore, it is my prayer, that all those involved in the dastardly act of destroying the Rivers State Hallowed Chambers and the tax payers’ investment must be brought to justice.

Grace and peace!!!
