The AFCON Lesson: Meritocracy in Sports and Its Relevance in Leadership Selection

Have you noticed that all the teams that proceeded to the final stages of the 2024 AFCON did so because of hard work and merit in their selection process? Did you also notice that the Super Eagles have an all-inclusive team that is not based on class, religion, or tribe?

Without using the prism of my brother, sister, uncle, tribe, or religion, is it also impossible for us to elect our leaders on merit, honesty, sacrificial leadership traits, and integrity? If merit works in sports, why not in election matters?
