Warning Signs: Addressing Youth Unrest and Societal Decay Before It’s Too Late

On May 20, 2022, I posted right here “When the uneducated children being used now to cause religious, tribal, and political mayhems shall wake up to know the truth, Rawlings Ghana will be a child’s play. Rawlings used the military, but our albatross will be the rising of the children we did not care about, who would have become the kings of the roads and dark alleys, in not too far a time. These children who abound everywhere will literarily attack Landlords on street corners and car owners on the highways…….when we shall get to that bus stop, none of us will have a hiding place” We have seen stick-wielding children waylay motorists in the Federal Capital Territory and Lagos and you called it armed robbery or armed gang.

I also had written that the hungry shall somewhere in the future break into fortified houses, not to steal any other thing but to look for food. We may see it as criminal but a hungry man who has also fallen to the ground has nothing to live for but would try to look for food to at least survive. Adamawa’s recent happenings just proved to etch closer. I know that leaders will soon be pointing accusing fingers at religion and tribe. None of it folks.

What we are witnessing with the drugs of young people, deadly cult-oriented forays, criminalities, and violence seem to be the tip of the iceberg.

The more we delay in giving back to the growing number of children and youths with cheap access to food, education, and employment opportunities, which would put food on their tables, the more we keep closer to the imminent attack of those they see as enemies. It is not whether it will happen, it is just a matter of when it shall.

I speak because in what shall look like a spontaneous revolution of the lowly against the perceived elites, no one shall be safe. The time to act is now!
