Are We Fasting Right as a Nation? A Reflection Inspired by Dr. David Ogaga and Isaiah 58
When I listened to Bishop David Ogaga on the rewards of fasting and juxtaposed it with the spiritual template in Isaiah 58:7–9, which states that adherents who during fasting:
“Feed the poor, care for the needy, and clothe the naked shall break forth like the morning, get healed speedily. Their righteousness shall go before them, and when they pray, the Lord shall answer, and when they cry, the Lord will say, ‘Here I am.’”
Looking at the rewards of fasting, my heart sank a little because I know my country is a praying and fasting nation, yet I do not have these promises as a collective.
So, what is holding us bound as a people?
Are there things we need to do differently in 2025?
