Unveiling Nigeria’s Trillion-Naira Corruption: A Call for Transparency and Accountability

I am sure the world would be laughing at us each time we go cap in hand begging for loans to fund our projects.

We cannot really say we are poor when only one person in one ministry laundered over 40 billion naira out of which the EFCC said it has recovered over 30 billion naira.

Can one just imagine what 30 billion naira would have done to lift a segment of Nigerians out of poverty in the last four years? The real worth of that money is about one tenth of what it was in 2019. This is man’s inhumanity to man.

Many other millions in dollars and billions/trillions in naira have also been traced to some accounts. The harakiri of the century was when it was published that the CBN investigators recently uncovered $265 million in a 6yr old child account. What has happened to those who opened the account and the bank that warehoused the fund without raising a red flag?

If we do not want to go the way of other countries that have disintegrated and having chaos everywhere as trademarks, the current war on corruption must be sustained. I know fighting corruption is a dangerous path to walk. But someone must lead the way and also pay the price.

I am sure well meaning Nigerians support the fight against corruption. Be that as it may, they also deserve to know the outcomes of all these trilion-trillion money laundering business.

Grace and peace!!!
