Guardians of Tomorrow: Addressing the Urgent Social Deficits Affecting Our Children Today

As I sat down to clean up a forthcoming presentation, my mind went on a parade about our urgent social deficits worldwide. The rapid deterioration of parents and the world due to gambling, drugs, the internet, and premature adulthood exposure to children is a pressing concern. I believe parents and grandparents should be deeply concerned and initiate a serious dialogue to prevent the planet from succumbing to another form of ruinous cancer that could prematurely claim many lives.

It’s often said that we should raise our children in the ways of the Lord, as expressed in Proverbs 22:6. However, I’ve observed that even the children of the most devout parents can stray from this path. It often takes divine intervention to guide them back. This is a stark reminder of the powerful influence of our society on our children’s behavior, and it’s a call to action for us to strive for a more positive societal impact.

In a world where most of us hide our children’s bad habits to protect our names, which does not help humanity, Christiano Ronaldo has recently spoken up via his X handle to cry out over his 16-year-old son spending $40,000 weekly on his girlfriend and haircut. He lamented that he might not be able to continue like this because the boy was becoming too expensive for him. I could see a father’s anguish as he spoke up about his child and the boy’s recklessness.

Ronaldo said he would have loved to subject the boy to some level of hardship so that he would learn the true worth of money, but he feared the media might profile him as a wicked father. Meanwhile, he gives him $15,000 weekly. The question is, where does the boy get the balance? Before you accuse the mother, in the video version that I watched, the mother was quoted as saying that the weekly $15,000 stipend Ronaldo was giving to the son was too much.

In another development that appeared on Twitter on July 8, 2023, a 16-year-old squandered the $45,000 life savings of his parents on gambling.

Unless parents worldwide unite to address what, I believe, are serious ‘mental health challenges,’ we risk witnessing a generation of children ending up in jails, on the streets, and with their futures irreparably damaged. The potential consequences of inaction are grave, and the urgency of this situation cannot be overstated.

Providing children with all the comfort they need without earning some of the perks might be responsible for our present-day woes. This comfort, often in the form of material possessions or financial support, can lead to a lack of appreciation for the value of money and a sense of entitlement. Absentee daddies and mommies from home could be another issue because we want to provide children with daily bread. Not living by a good example and displaying reckless extravagance might also add to the lengthy list. As you read this, what do you think could be responsible for the increasing malfeasance of our children? I urge you to join the conversation and share your thoughts.

Grace and peace!!!
