Internet Fraudster Jailed for 235 Years: A Call for Justice Reform in Nigeria

An internet fraudster was jailed for 235 years for defrauding Norwegians and money laundering. The man was prosecuted by the EFCC for internet fraud and money laundering of the sum of N525,172,580.

While this is cheering news. I am, however, worried that those who loot our commonwealth, which is largely responsible for decaying infrastructures in Nigeria, are walking the streets free. Can there be any crime worse than somebody stealing and embezzling funds budgeted for roads, hospitals, agriculture, and education?

A nationwide tour would reveal the littering of our roads with tankers, trailers, and heavy-duty vehicles that flipped over because of bad roads. In some instances, some tankers flipped over with products and burst into flames, causing severe damage to lives and properties. Many Nigerians have died because of a lack of access to healthcare facilities, while many of our younger ones have dropped out of school.

I am sure if this type of jail term is served on treasury looters, maybe, and perhaps maybe, officeholders would be more cautious about how they steal from our commonwealth.

Grace and peace!!!
