Reflecting on Nigeria’s Governance: Insights from the Governors’ Retreat in Rwanda

Meta! What is on my mind?

I am ruminating over the retreat of the Nigerian Governors, which took place in Rwanda instead of in any holiday resort in Nigeria.

What did they go to Rwanda to see or learn, that they have not seen in their many decades of travelling abroad?

Will that retreat in Rwanda stop them from using adhoc task forces and non-state actors to collect taxes, or harassing citizens for vehicle particulars, which other countries do digitally? Will they replicate what they saw working in Rwanda in their states? Will it stop them from owing Civil Servants or Pensioners? Will it stop them from constructing seasonal roads that would need resurfacing every year? Will it stop them from handing over the mineral resources in their domains to foreign miners at peanuts?
