When Friends Go Silent: A Call for Empathy, Not Judgment
Out of genuine love for our relationships, we tend to overreact when friends do not call us, especially when they know we are ill or facing financial or other challenges. Friends, No. In these days of so much happening around us, let us refrain from judging.
If you call your friends and they are not answering, send a text. If you are not still responding, try to positively reach your mutual friends to ask if all is well. Until we know the story behind the silence, do not accuse others because it may not be as great as you think.
We can save ourselves from gradually sliding into hate if we do those little things we are better at doing, like being patient, understanding, and empathetic, instead of being reactive. If you are a better communicator, stick to it and do not give up on your friends. This means not giving up on trying to understand them, not giving up on being there for them, and not giving up on the relationship.
Let’s not be like the Sanhedrin, always ready to find fault and give up on others. Life is too short to hold grudges or constantly seek reasons to end a relationship. Instead, let’s embrace each other’s differences and use our energy to strengthen our relationships.
Remember, life is like a dew; once it drops, it melts, and we can never put the droplets back together. So, let’s not waste our time and energy on negativity.
Life is too short to allow the sludge of dirt, anger, and hurt to fill our system created for good things. Doing so is to die by installment. May the grace of the Lord encircle you with the resilience, stooping to conquer, and humility needed to overcome the overwhelming challenges tearing relationships apart in today’s world.
Could you take a moment today to make that difficult call you’ve been avoiding? You might be surprised by the positive response you receive. Let’s appreciate our friends and the support they offer us.
I want to express my gratitude to the great friends in my life who accept me with all my flaws. God bless you all.
Happy weekend. Grace and peace!!!
