Exploring Peace: Insights from the Ten Most Peaceful Nations in the World

The ten most peaceful nations in the world in the order of their peaceful nature are Iceland, New Zealand, Denmark, Switzerland, Austria, Canada, Japan, Portugal, Slovenia, and Norway.

What these nations have in common is not religion or tribal affiliations. Some of the things they have in common are respect for the rule of law, respect for positive societal values, unfettered access to educational and healthcare opportunities for the citizens, treating citizens with respect, and preservation of their cultures and positive behaviors.

Some of the values of the most peace peaceful societies are the “we” concept. Not the “I” or “you” concepts. They do not display aggression, selfishness, greed, avarice, individualism, violence, and anger. They just love peace as a way of life. Some of the very important fruits of the kingdom they display without the hypes around religious practices are love, hard work, patience, gentleness, self-control, acts of charity from the heart, willingness to help, and the application of strict ethical behaviors. The citizens of the ten most peaceful nations display these attributes in schools, worship homes, sports, markets, parks, airports, interpersonal relationships, family lives, and in social functions.

I again reiterate the need for us as a nation to do away with religiosity without the fruits of the kingdom. Let us jettison the prevalent art of tribalism without sincere, good, transparent, and accountable tribesmen. Let us be as patriotic as the dictates of our national anthem but no to be patriotic without patriotism, which runs in the veins of the majority singing the anthem.

If the millions of our fellow countrymen and women that went to the mosque last Friday, and my Christian brothers and sisters massively going to churches today across Nigeria do half of what their spiritual leaders and the Lord admonished us to do, Nigeria would be a better place. Time to listen to the voice of reason to change the sail for good.

Grace and peace!!!
