Don’t Give Up—God Is Not Transactional

When we give up on life, life has no choice but to give up on us. However, as children of God, He does not abandon us when we turn away from Him due to adversities, human frailties, doubts, and faithlessness. Instead, God smiles and offers a helping hand to pull us up from the valley, saying, “It is OK. Don’t give up, I am with you and at your side.”

At that point, God has done His part. It is now up to us to open our spiritual eyes and invest some energy in spiritual meditation without any worldly distractions, enabling us to see His hand, hear His voice, and be propelled to come to Him.

Unfortunately, most people miss the point and the mark because they cannot recognize that God is right there with them in the valley of despair and all their travails. Most of us also take God for granted by using transactional prayers and expecting Him to run errands to supply our material needs.

God is God, and He can’t be bribed. Instead of believing in Him with thanksgiving, we fill His desk with numerous requests, asking Him to do this and that for us, without mentioning what we will give in return. Many think that when we say to God that we shall come back with some millions, He would jump at our request.

Note, God is not transactional in His relationship with us. He wants your testimonies that will encourage others to worship Him. He needs your praise and thanksgiving. But what do we get? When people are not satisfied with their present situation, they busily search for an available God on a spiritually filthy platform.

If you doubt it, please reread Psalm 23.

If out of frustration, one decides to confide in agents of the devil, who may appear as real as God’s agents, one is merely a step away from jumping from the frying pan into the fire. I do not know anyone who has fully paid off the interest rates on a loan from the devil’s bank or its agents and still stands to testify to the devil’s goodness.

Grace and peace!!!
