When They Walk Away: Healing, Forgiveness, and Wisdom
Those who walk out of your lives to pitch their tents elsewhere are free to do so whenever they find you unworthy of their relationships. They vanish like the wind, and, like the proverbial Sower in good soil, they are glad to be planted in new relationships that offer short-term benefits.
Often, once they are gone, they leave lasting scars and painful footprints on our hearts. As humans, we inevitably feel hurt. As they leave, pray for them. Be kind to them in the spirit of healing your scars. Religion teaches us to forgive others to protect ourselves from damnation and the ailments linked to anger and vengeance. Failing to do so keeps your wounds perpetually fresh.
Soon, they encounter life’s storms and suddenly remember you as a true friend. While they may have the freedom to leave and hope for a return, they do not have the right to reenter the heart they left with deep wounds on their own terms. That decision is yours to make with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Be wise.
Grace and peace!!!
